Help I have aTransmission problem.and don't know what to do

I have a 1990 Ford ranger 4.0 with the A4 LD transmission and I just replaced the modular valve because the old one was suckin transmission fluid through the intake and now after I've done that I went to test drive it and now second gear winds out gear but the other gears work good I was told to set the modular valve but I don't know how.ant help would be greatly appreciated and

Welcome to the forum.
Use a small slotted screwdriver to turn the adjuster screw on modulator clockwise for earlier shifts and counterclockwise for later shifts. Make small adjustments of 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time.
