I can drive it about 25 to 30 miles she runs and drives like a dream. Now the problem at any given time after that she will just shut down no warning at all. AT shut down water temp 180, oil pressure 35psi, The truck will not restart checked spark at the coil nothing , all fuel pump working. She has new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, after waiting almost 4 hours for a tow (i was a home not in a hurry to mess with it) they get it home and she fires right up like nothing was ever wrong any help on were to start looking
thank you for your time and help

tfi module. all the tell tale signs are there. shuts down when hot, no spark. fires up fine when it cools off.

save yourself some aggravation and buy the little tool they sell to help change those. its basically a thin wall socket (6 or 7 mm iirc) with a thumb wheel on it. it makes a huge difference.

I had the same problem with my 87 Ranger. After replacing the TFI module twice it turned out to be a bad frame rail fuel pump that was shutting off on thermal overload. It was the original pump, only 23 years old, I'm betting I wont get that out of the new Carter one that I put back on.

i replaced the tfi with one i had in the tool box. i let the truck run for about a hour then took it for a ride on problems so far going to give the truck to my father inlaw to drive around to get some miles on it. long story short the truck has sat up for the last 4 years this past week it got a full tune up oil change valve cover gaskets heater core therastat and a new a4ld :yahoo:

thank you guys for your help
