HELP! FA600 not fitting correctly...

ive been looking for over an hour on the raysbestos, they only make a passenger side drag link apparently...or else im just overlooking. spicer is a no go...all they have on their site is diff and ujoints.
anybody wanna sell theirs? lol

I have moog tie rods on my truck with no issues... Both sides clear the extreme drop pitman arm just fine.

Just out of curiosity EDDIE, has that truck ever been in a wreck? I'd check drop brackets, radius arm brackets, radius arms, beams and knuckles and see if any of those are bent or exhibit funny dimensions when compared to another truck or the same part on the opposite side of the truck.

Just a thought.

i do not believe so, i show no records. i am the 3rd owner, first owner hardly ever drove it (spare vehicle in a diff state in an airplane hanger) second was an old lady, and im the third.

however i do go wheeling every few weeks. but i doubt thats it. ill take a looksie at those moog drag links.

oh and one more thing, where is the model number stamped into the drag links? i think ill try the salvage yard to find some moog links.

ordered a matching set of moog draglinks the other day. should be in tuesday. lets cross our fingers!

ok what the F is this?! everything now fits ok but there is still not much more space between contact points. i now have about 1/4 inch. so seriously whats the deal?
im taking it to firestone tomorrow for alignment and to see what they say about it, and a new tire. :annoyed: just more money down the tube.
if they say it wont fly, then im taking off the fa600 and selling it and taking back the moog drag links.
stupidrunner steering set up here i come!

I would think 1/4" should be enough clearance. I don't recall there being all that much clearance there stock either... maybe 3/8" - 1/2"? The link should only move up & down behind it, not forward or backward where they'd hit.

ok, well if you think that is enough i will go with it. i would almost like to return the 150 dollar drag links.... :annoyed:
but if it works ill keep it.

oh and my rough country steering stabilizer is crapping out, its got a seal leaking fluid slowly. got any suggestions on a gooder brand?

firestone gave me the stamp of approval! woo!
took this at the gas station last night, sorry for the cruddy pic. thanks to all who helped me determine the cause of the problem!

Cool deal man. Glad you've finally got it together. :icon_thumby:

So, how's it drive now?

yeah im glad too, its been buggin me for quite some time. an its much less sloppy then it use to be.:yahoo:
im done spending money on my ttb!
i say this now...but will take it back later.

Im having the exact same issues as this guy...i was considering going back to my regular drop pitman arm. So it was determined that the links were bent?

I replied to your PM...

The FA600 drop arm moves the linkage a little bit back toward the axle, so it's possible in some instances you may need to bend the driverside tierod back about ¼ inch in a press for it to clear at the pitman arm joint. This small amount shouldn't weaken it at all.

hmm that sounds like opening up a can of worms bending it like that. Ill take a look at it tomorrow and see if I think i can pull it off.

It's already bent that way from the factory. Another 1/8" or 1/4" isn't going to hurt it.
