Ok my truck was fine until I parked it. Went to go somewhere and boom plans crashed and burned. 92 ranger 2.3 The goes into gear and when i give it gas it is rough and will barely go, like the ebrake was engaged... it isnt. It also squeals like crazy. It will go (as in moving foreward the shifter will go into gear just the vehicle wont go while in gear) in reverse but it wont in first or second gear. Bad trans? Bad joint? could it be the rear Im new to the game but Ive done most of the stuff on it myself.

Sounds like one or more of your drums might be stuck, especially the part about only being able to move in reverse. Try rocking it back and forth in to free it from their clutches? Happened to me once.

clutch if a manual low fluid maybe if a auto

im with hardcore keith, if the drums were locked he could get it moving in reverse alot easier than first. time to take a look at those rear brakes.

well its first thing in the morning and I am about to go check those drums. Its about 18degrees f and its a manual transmission. I think its the brakes

I tried rocking it back and forth and it dosent break it free it sounds kinda like the brakes are eating themselves. If youve ever experienced a devastated wheel bearing then you know what sounds im talking.

problem solved I let it sit in the garage for a couple hours while I went to a junkyard to pick up an engine for my other vehicle and when it got back the ice melted
i guess that no matter how bad I think something is its never really that bad
Just like when I let my buddy borrow the truck and he thought it needed some oil and added 2 quarts and when I got into it to drive it it started smoking and fouled up the plugs. No more truck lending for me. Or winter parking brake for that matter

I use to have that problem when I was a long hual truck driver, get you a few cans of that windshield ice remover (the spray type), when they get stuck again, spray it into the back of the hubs, in the little crack between the hub and backing plate.

always worked for me in the cold north when I had to wait over night to make a delivery.
