Hey guys this is pretty urgent...my master cylinder basically went tits up today:bawling:!!! Anywho I need to know what master cylinder am I gonne be looking for? I am going to be putting in an 8.8 rear axle with disc brakes soon so what would be a good/cheap upgrade in the process?:icon_cheers: Would I need the one w/, w/o proportioning valves? And w/, w/o speed control?

In the tech section it says some people haven't even changed over master cylinders so that part would be up to you.

From the tech section under swapping in the explorer axle
http://www.therangerstation.com/Mag...g_your_Ranger_8.8_to_Explorer_disc_brakes.htm

the beginning talks about not needing to swap in the MC from the explorer if you have RABS. It mentions the MC from the explorer being the same part number as the MC on a truck with rear antilock brakes.

The guy who wrote the article said he bought a separate proportioning valve for tuneability so I would say you don't need the one with the prop valve

I'm kinda lost...what exactly is RABS?

Never mind I figured it out...took me a bit but I figured it out and yes I do have RABS!

So would I wanna get the master cylinder out of a 95 and newer explorer? What else would I need? Will the fluid level censor hook back into the new MC?

The stock master cylinder for your year truck will be just fine with the explorer disc brakes. You don't need the explorer master cylinder. And the fluid level sensor is part of the reservoir, which you will swap over to the new master cylinder.

Yeah thanks for the help guys but I figured it all out now. I bought a new MC for my year of truck with a 25 year warranty and put it in, blead it and on my way I went. You should have seen the other one!!! I don't know how it happened but the entire internals of it were exploded and scarred up.
