Still checking some other things but some new ideas might help. I have 96 with the 2.3 and it started to act up a week ago.It starts right up and idles ok for a couple mins than the idle drops down like it is going to die and starts running rough if I speed it up it will idle fine again for a couple mins. Tonite when I tryed to drive it acted like it was struggling to get gas.Had throllte body off and cleaned and the idle vavle cleaned. New wires and plugs fuel filter. Dont know if EGR has anything do with it but has plate to block it off.

I know the engine computer isn't going to appreciate the absence of the EGR, but if it was running correctly with that part removed before, I'd look elsewhere. Could possibly be a weak fuel pump. Have you checked your fuel pressure when the idle problem starts?

I would look at the IAC . Is is setting any codes? hope that helps some What did you clean it with? You could have taen out the O2 senser.

Here is a update.I put in 2 diffrent IAC's a new MAF, Accell coil packs and took off the upper intake and clean it and check the vacum lines. Still starts right up and run for a few mins and the idle cuts down and start running rough. Does also when it cuts down have a slight miss to it.Oh the cat is still on but it is empty and I got the EGR working.

you might wanna check youre fuel pressure,should be between 38-45 psi
