ok truck starts fine... runs idles smooth... when it gets warmed up a/f gauge starts slowly dopping until it runs so lean it dies.... when i try to start it back up it wont start let it sit and cool it starts and runs untill it happens again!!!

Check your Fuel pump and fuel pressure, sounds like the fuel pressure is bleeding off somewhere. This is why the vehicle goes lean (No fuel) and then dies - good luck and let us know!

I'm looking forward to doing this swap on my 87 :)

Troy.

I wanted to clarify, you said your gauge was going down and by that I asume your AFR was going UP right? (14.0:1 is desired, 12:0:1 is on the richer side and 16.0:1 would be leaning out)

yes by going down i mean leaning out... 14 is desired for idle but under boost it needs to be closer to 11.. finally got somebody to toggle the key so i could hear the fuel pump and it sounds like its being blow back into the tank... so out it comes!!! kinda needed to change to the 255lph walbro.... thanks!

fpr

i put my vacuum tester on the stock fpr and it holds 25 hg steady for hour with no drop so the diaphram is good...But when i went to pull my gas tank i hooked my siphon up to drain the gas into some cans through a filter and the tank was dry! i had just put 10 gallons in there three days prior and even though it was running rich it only ran 3 times before i pulled the tank..??? once i got it out, the top of the fuel pump where the lines go in had mucho trash on it that was soaked with gas.... already had the filler neck off and the tank was dry so i didnt have a chance to prime the system to see where the leak was... should be here today is a edelbrock 67gph high performance fuel pump strainer and another fuel filter(gotta get my warrenty!!) so before i mount the tank im going to check the lines for that leak and pray im all good

..

i had to replace all the lines on my 87 2.9l so its no prob!!! cant wait to get my baby on the road again...
