Hello all!

I just bought a 1994 Ranger (long bed) to commute and carry/tow 1 or 2 motorcycles to race tracks.

The $2,100 truck has some issues, so I might be leaning on your expertise. So far, I have noticed that the temperature gauge does not seem to work (the truck does not overheat, it might be the gauge on the dash) and the parking brake is utterly useless.

Oh, and I also need to wire it for a trailer...

I'm very excited to learn and do!

Thank you in advance and best wishes,

Antonio

Welcome to TRS Antonio~!

Most likely there is a wire off on the temp sending unit under the hood...but certainly could be the gauge on the dash...easier to check under the hood first...I didn't see what engine you have so you might let us know that and someone can point you to the sending unit...

The parking brake is usually a fairly easy fix...but not necessarily inexpensive depending on the condition of the rear shoes and drums...and the cables themselves. There is plenty of reasons why this might not work...primarily broken or seized cables...that typically require replacement...so it is often best to start fresh if the rear shoes are worn.

It doesn't take much experience to do any of this work and you probably won't need to do it again for another 2 to five years depending on driving habits and other factors...so it's something you can relearn as needed...makes it more interesting when you forget stuff...:)

Anyway...it is best to read or post technical issues in the appropriate forum when answers are needed...or the urgent help section if urgent...many of the tech people do not read this section...but some do...

Enjoy!
