i am lumpy 88 xlt ranger how are you all glad to finally get past the registration .
sorry if i am not placing this post in the correct place i taught i was just introducing myself but now i think this is a question post for ranger problems. Mine started about a week ago i pulled a boat for about 100 miles this is the hardest my ranger has worked since i owned it , well i stopped at a rest stop with the ranger running fine and when after about 6 hrs i cranked it up i had a very bad miss like a cilinder was out. well after i got back on to the freeway to finish my trip after about 10 miles of driving with it missing but not as bad as when i started it up i ran out of gas after refilling the tank my truck would not hardly run . i did make it home but not without lots of tension since the truck died on me often sitting at lights. well a day later it died completely and i took it to a automobile repair shop , the replaced the ignition module, and the cap and the rotor now it ran again but the bad miss was still there $376 this work, now i took the truck home and replaced the spark plugs , the fuel filter , and the high pressure fuel pump , i hooked up a spark checker to all 6 wires and have good strong spark on the spark plug wire ends. i also figured out the old fuel pump was fine so i spent $90 for nothing .
any ideas where i go from here , ???? Please. Right now i can drive it but the miss is there always and it is spread across** all 6 cylinders evenly notherwords disconnecting one wire at a time does not indicate a miss because no one cylinder seems to be causing it. its a rough situation because i am living in my truck right now i am a temporlarly homeless vietnam vet no steady job have never taken any charity dont WANT any just some good advice where to attack this missing 2.9 fuel injected engine next , yes i added expensive fuel system cleaner and i am running premium chevron gas .
