Bought an 87 Ranger XLT 4x4 that has a lifter tap. I'm thinking of swapping the motor for something else (not a V8!) I was wondering what would be compatible with my 5 speed tranny. Trying not to make anymore work for myself then I have to...thanks!

Hey welcome to the forum! I'm not sure what a lifter tap is, but unless you got the same engine to swap in I don't think anything will work with the 5 spd you have now.

A 4.0? I'm sure its an easy fix though.
