Now that I've finally gotten some money and time to work on my truck, you guys might see me posting more!

Hello everyone, My name is Will, I am 18 years old and have been driving various setups of wheels and motors since I was as young as 6, I bought my Ranger used at a local dealership in November of 2007, when I was 16 years old - I had a lot of issues going on after my 16th B-day (August 23rd) so I did not get my license until December of 07. I found the ranger at about the 7th place I went to (it felt like the 40th) and I had been looking for either a Ranger or Bronco 4x4 as my first truck.

I had seen a few other trucks that day that I was really starting to like - An 86 F150, a 98 S10 that was lifted, and a 92 bronco (Was stripped of its 4x4 and had a 302 in it! :bawling:) when i got to the dealer, a black 97 caught my eye... and in the back I saw it, a Green STX... After looking over the black 97, I walked back to the 96 STX... they were just cleaning it and had it idling, it was so clean that it really looked like a newer truck. I went inside and talked to the dealer, they agreed to let my dad test drive both the rangers with me riding shotgun (no license really sucks). When we got out in the Black 97, it did not have a radio, had a really crappy tint on it too, we found a patch of gravel on a side road and stopped and switched it to 4x4.... after launching we quickly realized...the 4x4 was not engaging.... being that I really wanted a 4x4, this put it out of the question as I did not have the time/money to invest into a truck that wasn't going to be at least wise 90% ready for me to drive and wheel.

I was pretty bummed out as we returned to the dealer, but after testing the STX...Cold AC! Radio! 4x4! ext. cab was also really nice, truck was nice and clean...the hood was very dull (like the clear coat had been worn off) I decided that this truck was the one I wanted, and so I bought it for about $4200 that day.We drove it home, parked it and me and my dad realized something very bad - We never popped the hood to look at the motor...Uh oh, Luckily the rangers motor was clean enough to eat off, maybe not eat, but at least touch lol.

Fast forwarding through my days as a 16 year old without a license, I have since put a 3" body lift and a set of 31" mud tires, Magnaflow dual exhaust, Kenwood head unit w/ Sirius radio, Viper alarm kit and still more coming...
As stated, the truck is a 1996 Ford Ranger STX 4x4, It has 126,xxx miles on it ( Then the odometer broke so I have no clue what I've put on it past that...) it was a very nice truck, non-smoker, the only flaws were the paint on the hood, various dings/dents, and the ashtray was drilled up for whatever reason... (to stop smoking? lol)

Anyways, I want to thank you all for contributing to the site, I've used it for more than I could ever say in one post and will continue to use it and share my knowledge with all the members. I'd also like to thank Jim and the admin/mod team for keeping the site running and being easy to use, it helps a lot when you're a noob, lol.
