Hey guys having some issues with a ranger I bought.89 2.9
Just pulled oil pump cleaned pick up tube stuck pump in oil hooked to a drill and is pumping oil. When I start my truck it rattles at the rockers and pressure is normal then drops and it quiet up then pressure will pick up and the rattle begins again and then the truck starts to have a rough idle.I'm lost

Is this the reason you pulled the pump to begin with?? did you check the bypass valve for sticking, and if shes got high miles there know for lifters taking a dump, go to the tech forms and click on engines then click on 2.9 and you will find out what iam talking about, bad bearings can cause pressure loss as well as gummed up feed passages

I originally pulled the pump because I had no oil pressure at all but now its just really erratic. And then at the same time its idle is up and down and will sometimes stall on me.

I checked my air bypass valve its not sticking.
