Hello everyone. I just bought my first Ford Ranger ever. I used to be a die hard chevy guy. I have a huge cummins powered gmc and I used to have a clean 97' K1500 silverado. I sold the silverado becasue it was my daily and it was getting around 12mpg
. Anyway I having grown up in rural utah I have known many good ol boys that have these rangers and they keep them going on a shoe string for years and years beyond their reasonable usability (300,000+ miles). Also being a seasoned mechanic and knowing that ford has done some great things with the rangers I decided to sell my silverado and buy a ranger!
I found an immaculate 2002 Ford Ranger in almost perfect condition. I had to have it. It has the 4.0 V6 SOHC with the 5 speed auto, the XLT apperance package and the FX4 off road package. We wrapped it up with $6,300 cash and I drove it home!
So far I have only driven it about 100 miles and I am so happy! This truck is awesome! New 31'' tires, interior and exterior is perfect besides a tiny dent in the drivers door. I bought the truck "as-is" and had to fix the driver side seat belt and replace the front fog lamps (which came with the truck). Took me all of half an hour and I'm good to go.
I have already read 5 or 6 of the tech articles and figured I had to join the forum! So here I am!
