I've recently purchased a 94 Ranger short box with a 2.3, 5 speed and 3.45.
Been lurking around gathering info. Not to come out asking all kinds of questions
like I see on the other forums I frequently visit. A little about myself and then a
question. Been working on cars and more recently motorcycles since highschool,
30+ years. I do my own welding and light machine work. Even pieced together
an electronic fuel injection system for one of my bikes that uses no computer.
Here is a link to it and there is a link to a you tube video on page 6. Or just search
fuel injected KZ400 should bring it up.

I like the fuel economy around town and locally.
But I went to Des Moines, a 3 hour one way trip last week on I80. On the hills and with
a 30 m.p.h. side wind there were big trucks that were catching me. I know about the
stock power output being a little anemic. So I'm planning for a head swap along with raising
the fuel pressure come spring. The new head will be a direct replacement. "89/"94 I
believe. Modified from stock with an angle milling and minor bowl clean up. I'm also
planning more further down the road and that leads me to my question. I've acquired
a roller cam. Lobe lift is .240 and engraved on the back of the back journal is BP 7.
Can anybody give me some specs on this cam like opening and closing numbers?
Also, concerning cam followers, is there a difference between pre '94 and post '95
parts? And has anybody converted over?
.
