Hello all!
I've been lurking here for a couple weeks since I've been focused on getting my '98 Ranger all tuned up. I had a '98 Pathfinder that needed new parts that would have matched or exceeded the value of the vehicle so I figured it was time to get something else. Always wanted a pickup since it's a bit more practical for the stuff I do.
I found a red Ranger XLT flareside and ran a CarFax which showed a few owners (2 fleet), but very clean record. As with any vehicle with 124K, I expected it would need a little love right off the bat. Thanks to this TRS site, I've been able to whiz through most of it in the past couple weeks:
Oil/Filter change
Plugs/Wires
Tranny/Diffs/Xfer case fluid change
Power steering fluid flush
Replace both front rotors/pads
Re-lubed both door lock cylinders
Reconstructed the console lid (3/8" poplar wrapped with black velour, magnetic latch)
Replaced the Camshaft Position Synchronizer (much easier than I thought)
Found a new OEM Ford bedliner for $50. Looks so much better back there.
Next up:
Brake fluid flush
Replace stereo
If anyone has any other suggestions for items that should be done please let me know. I'm especially interested in the critical items (like the Camshaft Synchronizer) that could possibly cause the engine to implode/explode.
As soon as I get a chance I'll post pics. She's nothing special at this point, just a clean red pickup that's running pretty well.
Glad meet y'all!
