Hey guys and girls,

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Keith, I am coming from the Subaru crowd. I loved my Subaru, but priorities have forced me to sell her, and purchase something a bit less costly, so that hopefully in the near future, I can buy a house.

I purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger from Litchfield Ford. Its bright red (not sure the Ford color) in XLT trim, Regular Cab, Short bed, with the FFV 3.0L V6, and a 5 speed manual. I actually won the car on eBay (a first time car buy on eBay). Not sure I got the best of deals, but it is what it is.

Anyway, the car is in pretty good shape for the year and the mileage (72k). I do have a couple concerns, which is why I already joined the forums. I will be sure to post those in the right section, although, this site is setup a bit differently than how NASIOC (the Subaru forum) was.

Regards,

Keith

Welcome!!!

Thanks!

Do we have a technical section where I can post questions regarding engine and drivetrain? Specifically, when I start my truck, for the first 1-2 minutes of driving, my oil pressure gauge reads low, then it springs up to normal. I read in one section how someone had similar issues and after replacing the oil pressure sender twice, he ended up putting in an aftermarket gauge to monitor oil pressure.

Thanks, Keith

this probably wont help much in the way of solving your issue, but the ford oil pressure gauges are more like a switch, once the pressure reaches..i believe 8psi?..the needle will pop to the middle of the range on the gauge, so that "range" that the gauge shows is actually sort of useless, its basically a glorified representation of something that can only tell you if the oil pressure is adequate or not adequate so in that sense one that actually displays the real pressure might be more desirable
