Hello,
Since the body of my current car has some rust issues, and I've wanted a small truck for a bit, I'm looking to swap the motor from my 98 tdi into a 4x4 ranger. This way I'll have something I can use to haul around and pickup small things with but still get reasonable mileage (since my daily commute is about 2hrs to work and back.)

I live in the fingerlakes region of ny so a 4x4 would be nice to have in the winter.

I'm in the research phase of my project and haven't actually bought the truck I'll be swapping the motor into yet.

I'm not super familiar with the ford ranger's as my experience is 99.9% vw related. But I'm fairly mechanically inclined and have quite a few of the tools that I would need to do the work. (that and my neighbor is very familiar with the rangers as it's what he uses as a daily driver)

I'll post up a thread on the conversion as i get into it.

Also, if there is a better engine than the tdi (The 4BT for example) or a vw idi turbo diesel (which I also have) I would be interested. (in fact i'm considering the turbo diesel so my daily driver downtime is minimal.)
