About myself. I'm a combat veteran of the u.s army, a welding student and formerly a mechanic From Winter Park Florida. I'm a hunter and a fisherman. And I compete in 2 gun shooting competitions.
I've only read this forum in the past few days when I bought my 1996 ranger XLT 3.0 automatic last Thursday. I've learned so much. And already fixed almost every issue that I've had. I originally came to this forum through Google looking at how to fix a bad gas gauge. And inoperable dash lights.
The truck.
White 1996 ranger XLT 4x2 single cab with a 3.0 v6 auto about 170,000. Paid $1200
The good:
Engine is still strong no leaks.
Transmission shifts great. With no slip
New tires on it from seller.
He had replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat, battery, ac compressor, and alternator. Recently
Already has a locking tool box
The bad:
Odometer doesn't work (ordered new gear already)
Fuel gauge doesn't work (waiting for payday)
Driver seat belt doesn't retract (fixed)
Bad rear u-joint (fixing tomorrow)
Roof had rust from previous owner hauling saltwater kayaks (fixed)
Center seat back rest was broken (fixed)
Dash lights didn't work (fixed with new switch)
Few light bulbs out (all fixed)
I hope to continue to learn from this forum and maybe contribute things also.
