Hello Everybody, Bronco 2 from Austria

Have somebody a Picture from Original Exhaust? From front to back? That would help me a lot.
Nobody have it in the Program.

If you go back to rockauto, drill down through the 1984 Bronco II stuff and then click on "Exhaust and Emission" and the click on "Pipe Resonator". You will see they do sell the tailpipe, Walker 45271. Click on the little blue button "info" and it will have a diagram with all the Walker part numbers. You can use these numbers for a internet search if you are trying to find parts. Walker is pretty much the only game in town for exhaust parts, and as you found out, nothing is made for the Bronco II anymore except the tailpipe.

Hello Everbody!!

Spare Parts to order, is more difficult as i think. o_O Rockauto is not bad, but have no Sheet Metal Parts. And the Shipping goes from different Location what makes the Shipping Costs horrible expensive.
Bronco Graveyard had almost everthink, but Communication/Answer is,... hmmm.
2 Problems i had also. Have somebody a Picture from Original Exhaust? From front to back? That would help me a lot.
Nobody have it in the Program. The same with the Windshield.

And what You do if the Rear Shock Mount is brocken? Cut it, and only use a Bolt?
I looked at the upper shock mount on my truck, it appears to be a simple bracket riveted to the frame. Should be the same on both sides, and maybe someone can weld it with some scrap steel to match the design on the other side.

Otherwise, probably have to get someone to cut one off a junkyard from and send it to you.

A bolt just going through the frame might let the shock hit the frame, at least it would on my truck.

Time to buy a welder if you don't already have one!

@franklin2 , Thanks for this. I looked, and had some Pictures. In my Car is all selfmade, bad selfmade. But with this Walker Numbers, i dont find 1 Item here by Us. I think, i must weld the Exhaust by myself.
Other Question, had the 84 2.8l original a Catalyst? And if yes, had it a Lambda Sond?

@ MikeG I had a Welder, i build a few Cars. But not American ones. I think, i do it with a Bolt. ( Pictures coming ). Actually i dismantle the Axes and other Parts. Its go to sandblasting and then goes to Powder Coating.

Greetings from Austria

Pictures, 1 good, other is broken.

The broken threaded part of the shock mount just holds the nut on it. If you can't weld a threaded stub on it, you might drill out the center for a short distance and thread it for a small diameter bolt. It shouldn't take much to hold the shock onto the smooth part of the shaft. The shock load is up and down, not side to side (for the most part).

In the U.S., we just take a car to an exhaust shop and they bend and weld up any tubing, plus whatever muffler you want. So that is pretty easy for us. A 1984 Bronco if it was made in the U.S. will have a catalytic converter, but I don't know if it is required in Austria. Again, the exhaust shop would just pick an appropriate size and weld it in, etc.

About the only part in the U.S. for the exhaust that would have to match the motor exactly, is the exhaust manifold.

Hope that helps. Yeah I think you need a welder ;)

"Lambda Sond"? Oxygen sensor? I think it would have had one between the exhaust manifold, and the catalytic converter. Someone else here will have to confirm. Don't know what year those started in. Catalytic converters started around 1976 I think.

Hy,...

Thats a good Idea. Thanks. :)
This Bronco stand a few Years so i must make a big Technical Vehicle Inspection.
The Problem here in Austria is, it must be all exactly like original, with Papers, Numbers on it and other useless Thinks. If we had a Vehicle review, thej look very closely.
I only ask, because the full Exhaust is not original ( someone weld a Audi Muffler in this Car ), and it doesnt have a Catalytic Converter.
Yes, Oxygen Sensor. :giggle: We call it "Lambda Sonde", i dont know exactly Name.
If i look Your Car Shows in the TV, i wish we had the same loose Laws what concerns Car building. By Us You are a Criminal, if You do somethink on Your Car.

This Part i also search, if somebody sell one in good Condititon. Maybe there are new ones avaible.

I think it is for Ignition:

Mine one is melted everywhere

I doubt you'll be able to find a muffler or catalytic converter with a "Ford" logo on it. Best chance is probably finding one without any logo. It is doubtful that a muffler would last that long so I don't know if anyone here could tell you how an original would be marked.

O2 senors are generally Bosch, for Ford vehicles. I don't know if Ford has them re-branded as Motorcraft.

Good luck.

You might be in trouble. Where do they get their info and is it accurate on your Bronco II? The reason I ask, if they insist it be all original, the 1984 2.8 was originally computer controlled, with a Ford TFI distributor, computerized carb control and lots of wires and sensors. Some of this stuff is not available anymore. If whoever had your Bronco did what I did, I took all that stuff off and put a regular distributor on it with a vacuum line going to it. It runs much better that way. That means I don't need the oxygen sensor anymore. I have inspections also, but they basically look for the cat in the exhaust, not much else. You are in for a big project if you are going to try and put this back to original.

What are the rules in Austria? For example, over here we can swap in a newer engine if we keep all the emissions for the newer engine. That may be the simpler way for you to go, and get enough power to turn those big tires at the same time. An original 2.8 v6 will have a hard time turning those tires unless you put in 4.56 gears or something like that.
