good morning guys; i'm matt and i'm tagged as young matt because i am part of a motorcycle forum with notoriously elder members, the goldwing forum. young matt is also my handle over there.

i bought a 99 ranger a month or two ago from the dealership, now stuff is braking and i'm having all those little under hood "ford related problems."

i've been browsing this forum since the week i knew i needed a new car, i have always liked rangers. i wanted to know what went wrong and how to fix it before i owned another ford. i must admit that i have had ford related problems in the past with 2 4.6L thunderbirds with automatic tranies. that is why i demand a manual transmission in every car since.

my biggest mistake so far has been buying the 99 ranger thinking that all 4.0 were SOHC engines. hahahahha, i'm the fool.

A fool? Dude, you dodged a freaking bullet. The 4.0 SOHC has significantly more issues and significantly higher cost of engine repairs for insignificant power and economy gains. To fix almost anything you have to take the engine out of the vehicle.

The pushrod 4.0 is a much better engine.
