I'm about to put a 331 sbf into a 1993 Ranger Splash. Looking for any help and I've found quite a bit here so far.

The motor (a 1993 HO)was originally being built for an 85 Grand Marquis, Colony Park I have... but I found a decent 93 Ranger at a good price so, it's going into the ranger. The motor has an Eagle stroker with a cast crank and forged pistons. I'm running GT40P heads, COMP Cams 35-308-8and probably carb. A ton of sh*t is done to the motor. It's built for torque.

I'll be running an AOD transmission and 8.8 3:55 trac-loc.
I also have a 1999 Merc Mountaineer that's complete with a blown motor.

The major problem I'm having is. I have a set of Ford Racing headers I'd like to use. Somewhere I saw a photo of someone that was able to use them with minor issues (you could see that one tube was dented in. There was no info on it. Only showed the drivers side. Any info on that would help.
BTW. I'm in upstate NY near Saratoga.
Thanks, in advance.

Hey reverend, I'm following this build. Are those ford racing headers for the gt40p heads? I follow the foxbody world and a lot of guys go for that swap but there always seems to be issues with getting the gt40p headers. Idk much about it personally, something with the sparkplug angle & header interference iirc. U can pretty much make anything work if u put enough into it tho.
Should be a fun set up. Is the trans an aod or an aode?

Hi Rev,
I can't help on your specific question but wanted to point out a forum you may be interested in.

I don't go there any more myself but there can be good discussions there sometimes. It definitely needs some new blood to stir things up a bit and your avatar seems to indicate that you might be the one.
Welcome to TRS.

I don't have the part number available, but I know that it is somewhere in the V8 Conversion Headers thread that is stickied at the top of the V8 conversion forum.

I can also tell you that the GT40P foxbody headers are no longer produced. If you are going to find a set it'll have to be used or NOS, and people think a lot of them.

Your other option would be to use a set of non GT40P headers, plug wires with 90 degree boots, and probably heat shield sleeves.

IIRC pretty much all 73+ Mustang headers will work if you notch the passenger side frame rail for clearance. 65-73 Mustang and Falcon headers will fit better on the I beam trucks, can't recall if they still need a little bit of frame notching though.

I've also got a 5.0 with GT40P heads going into an 86 Ranger (basically same frame). I'll be using Headman 88400 headers (for 65-73 mustang) with custom plug wires since I couldn't get my hands on GT40P headers and a price I was willing to pay.

EDIT: Just reread you post and realized you already have headers. If those are for GT40P heads your are set for off the shelf plug wires. Frame fitment will depend on what they were meant for. Foxbody style you'll definitely have to dent the tubes or clearance the frame rail.
