Im caught between the two and ive looked at them both but I have never used either. I have read anything and everything but I cant decide cuz cant find anything to win me over. What's yall's opinion of either kind?

Brightness is the wrong question to ask.

the lightbulb inside is typically the same 55w bulb either way

Hellas typically have a better lense and reflector.

CONTROL of the light is everything.

seems like KC's cost more. also walmart sells hella's so you would'nt have to order them.

The 500 and 500FF's that Wal-Mart sells are gawd-awful bright but are a pretty tight beam. I would call them a driving light more than anything.

They sit out there right on the edge of my high beams and light the road ditch to ditch perfectly a long ways out.

They have different lenses but I don't really know what they were trying to do. My F-150 has the FF's and the Ranger has the regular 500's and they seem about the same to me.

What i want is the light to kinda scatter if you will. I want to be able to see everything when i look around. The hellas sound like what i want up front. But as far as on the headache rack, The seems like they arent a very heavy duty made unit. Feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I haven't had any problems with mine, but they are nestled in grille guards.

i have some hella's that i bought back in high school (1998 or 99), still kicking, still using the original bulb too. bright as all holy hell, i used them to spot light deer a lot down at my grandparents (they live an hour past bumble-f*ck, so it's a great place for them). my buddy had some KC's on his CJ, i didnt care for them. they started rusting by our senior year. still worked but they looked like shit.

I have two KC "Apollo" Series 55watt spot beam lights, I love them, work great, go to the edges of my high beams, they provide a more consistent and less faded light where my high beams are, I can turn my high beams on from low and not tell the difference.

I've never tried the Hella 500's, since my walmart doesn't carry them, but I've heard they're great lights too... lots of jeepers run them.

find a princess auto and get a set of 7 inch night vision lights. 100 watts each, and they are spots.

oh forgot to mention... less then $40 each

http://therangerstation.com/forums/album.php?albumid=935&pictureid=7185]dude go with kcs they are more expensive but I have 2 kc daylighters and they are amazing they are more focused but will go twice as far as the hellas. They also come with everything you need to mount and wire them. Oh since they are more focused I threw some pro comps on the side and use them for wide shots and they work perfectly

Holy huge baja lighrs batman.lol I have never seen or heard of those.

Haha... Those are cute little lights...

Baja Shop HIDs. Flood beams. Work pretty well, however they are flood beams so there is the possibility of outrunning the light if I get my truck too much faster in the whoops.
