Do you guys know if the stock wiring can handle the Hella 100/80 watt bulbs?

Thanks,
John

LEDs are fine to retrofit on lights that have diffusers, but on headlights the LED emitters are not in the same location as the filaments on the original bulbs. So you get a mess that is poorly focused, blinds other drivers and does not produce and effective light pattern.

I was concerned about how focused the LED’s would be. Thank you for mentioning this. Do you know if the existing wiring can handle the Hella 80/100

No, I have not looked into the wire gauge.

65 watt Phillip's bulbs are plenty bright and have no chance of setting your truck on fire...

A buddy of mine put 100/80w bulbs on his '93... It seemed to handle it fine (they were good & bright, not yellowish), though about 5 years later one of the contacts I recall burnt inside the headlight connector. I could not tell if it was from overloading or maybe it just wasn't seated on all the way or dirty (I've seen the same happen with DOT bulbs too). We replaced the connector, it's been fine since (about 10 years now).

As for LEDs, not only is the focus often wrong, the light output also tends to be a glaring bluish color. ×2, stay away. (4000°K HID would be the way to go if there's no concerns over radio interference, though you also will still likely have the problems with focus (and pissing off others) if you don't also change your stock housings for ones designed for HID bulbs)

Another option might be to simply add on a pair of auxiliary driving lights. Using a relay, they can be tied into the high-beam circuit to come on with the brights if desired.

I think that the wiring could handle it, but are you willing to deal with the consequences if it can't?

Like 4x4junkie said, get a pair of aux driving lights. Walmart sells the blazer driving lights for like $20, wiring and everything. Used them for several years on my bronco and never had a problem. Wire them to the battery and just run the switch to the cab.

(I wanted to add brighter bulbs, but then I just added lights to the grill guard, and light bar, and backup lights. Total of 7 light sets.... I have a problem)
