Heaviest thing you've towed with your Ranger.

Someone in another thread got their panties in a bunch over tow ratings so I'll start.

Here's the heaviest thing I've got a weight slip for. Truck with me in it is ~3500. Didn't fit on the scale so the "steer axle" is the whole truck.

Love it .,I thought a whole pallet of pavers in the bed .St7ock 94 3.0. No bAck breaks was somethng ..nice work !!

My ‘94 2wd/2.3/manual/4.10’s once towed a short distance approximately 3500/4000 pounds. Was pulling a small tandem axle trailer with a 1963 ford 2000 tractor on it. Didn’t like it, liked stopping less. Shoulda put the ranger on the trailer & pulled it with the tractor! The 2011 3.0 awd escape did good with the same load though.View attachment 138054

that is the link to my flickr page for the 94. The grille guard was a warn trans4mer. I bought it through a auto parts store many years ago. I no longer have the truck, I loved it & the retro look I created. unfortunately rust was getting the best of it, the cab where the cab mounts are were badly rusted, frame had been patched & needed more patching. Its been 2 years since I sold it, been looking for another ranger, I drive a 09 escape now.

So freaking cool, how long did you own it? Also was the frame rusted out bag enough it. Cracked it looked like it was bending up

I had it for 7 years, the frame was bad in several spots as well as the cab itself where the cab mounts met the body, I had also redone the floor pans but its days were definitely numbered. About a year after It sold I did see it on marketplace, im not sure if its still on the road or not. Im looking at a 98 reg cab 4x4 right now, 3.0 auto & it was a city owned truck. “commercial white”. less than 100K, driver seat looks like its been in and out of a lot. I see potential in it- starting with a gear change, dont know what it has now but traditionally ford puts too high a gear behind 3.0’s

I’ve got a 94 rights now it’s doing well it’s older but I got it from a guy who bought it from Texas and it is now in Illinois but I believe it was sold in Illinois when new at a dealer because there is a very old dealership emblem on it, then it went to Texas and now it’s been back up for 3 years and then I bought it 4 months ago

Given the weight reduction on the bumper and the fender... I would question how much of the frame is left on this one too. Especially since the bumper looks to have no damage aside from cancer and appears to be preparing to leave the chat...
