Heater moisture

Hi I have a 1990 Bronco II, and for the past week the heater has been fogging up the interior. I can smell a faint waft of anti-freeze, and you can definitely see the moisture the heater is putting into the cabin accumulating on the windows. I wanted to know if there were any specific areas I should look at to find the source of this moisture getting into the cabin before I start tearing into the dash. It is quite annoying, and also dangerous as it impairs my driving visibility sometimes. Also I am tired of not using the heater so i can see clearly, and it really cold outside. Thanks RS guys.
 
Heater Core has a leak, most likely. My '89 Mustang has that issue, but you almost have to turn the car inside out to replace it. That's where good old stop-leak came into play. Hope yours is easier to do, should that prove to be the case.
 
your bronco should be 5 screws, 2 hoses and a $30 heater core. nothing else will fix this. stop leak will just clog the heater

Yeah, that it will. Just a stop-gap measure until warmer weather, though. Not on the road in winter, anyway.

Wish all core swaps were as easy as that!
 
You dont have to tear into the dash. Me and my buddy did my 88 BII in about 10 minutes. Its under the glovebox, a little uncomfortable but way better then some ive read about.

My '88 Mustang took me 8 hours.. :annoyed:

89 Ranger was a new generation year. While I have never changed the heater core in a Gen-2, make absolutely sure that the job isn't going to be much bigger than what you think. But either way, if it needs replaced - it needs to be replaced.
 
I'm thinking that the guy who chose the location for a Fox-body 'stang heater core used to work for either GM or Dodge......an undercover saboteur, perhaps.

He's describing what is needed to change it out with another heater core.

It's literally a job where if your coffee gets cold (or beer gets warm in hot weather) while you are pulling it out it's because you spent too much time finding the right CD to listen to while you removed it.

Putting it back together needs an assistant.... someone to stick their finger in the hole to guide the tubes through the holes in the firewall....

Including "burping" coolant system the whole thing is at worst a 40min job.

I know.....just was mentally comparing the RBV swap to the 'stang swap, having already seen how involved that one is going to be. Hence the stopleak as a stop-gap.....no pun intended!
 
My escort took me two friggin hours. I had to remove the entire dash, shifter assembly, steering column, all forward interior panels, and then there was more to be removed after the dash came out.

Step 3 to replacing the heater core in an Edge is "remove driver's seat". Step 15 is "remove wipers". 7 hours later, I had it back together. I get to do all of them in my shop because no one else will touch them. I don't think they are all that bad.

same here except for some reason im the euro tech.

anything European comes to me and i ****ing hate it, last heater core i did was a 1991 ranger super cab, had it done in 15minutes.

the time before that was a 2001 VW beetle.. even AFTER removing the dash and dash frame there isn't enough room to remove the heater core lol
