You need to be a little more descriptive as to what exactly is not happening. Is it not blowing? Is it blowing but not in the supposed directions? Is it blowing cold?

If it's turning on, but NO heat:
Check for wet floor board on passengerside. (Indication of bad heater core).
Check heater core hoses under hood. Are both getting hot? (Indication of a blockage in heater core).
Check coolant level? Low level will make heat not blow hot either.
Check vent doors. Are they switching from cool to heat. (May have bad vent door actuator.
Those are places to start, but yes, would be easier if you would be a little more detailed on what the problem is.

When i switch the heater on the air comes out cold. Even if i let it warm up it still blows cold. Have noticed a wet floor though. Would this only happen when the heater is on?

If it's leaking you want to get it fixed ASAP or bypass the heater core til you can get it fixed. Fumes that can accompany the coolant inside the cab are toxic.

It will probably only leak when the engine is up to temperature...but if your fluid level is low you may not see much of a leak...

I don't envy you...unless your vehicle is a 94.5...removing the dash to replace the heater core is not fun...

Maybe try flushing it out, put some stop leak in it...might buy you some time...

its definitely a 95 and theres a few things i have been putting off that the dash has to be removed for anyway so ill just make it a big fun day of repairs! hah ill have to check out the fluid level to see if thats what is going on.

Hope it works out well for you then...

Heck, you're in Texas...why do you even need a heater? I'd just connect the two hoses together under the hood and hope the A/C works...

i mostly need it for the defrost but that wouldnt be a bad idea! hah Im fixing everything to sell it tho.

i checked the fluid level and it looked good but ill have to investigate further.

djschick88,

I just got finished putting a heater core in my 93. And I mean about an hour a go. The core was $25.00. The housing for the heater core has a drip that go out your fire wall so you may not see any moisture in your truck and my coolant level did not go down much.
What got me was the fogging up windshield and the smell of coolant.

And just let you know it was very easy to replace!!!!!!!!!!!
This may help you it did me.

The problem is, with a 95 and up Ranger in order to replace the heater core one must remove the dash...I have an 88 and it is as easy as the 93...but in 95, for some strange reason...Ford added a bit of extra work for the DIY'ers...:icon_confused:
