Heater core success!

I did the heater core replacement. I am now an official member of the heater core replacement club. I knew it was coming. There was a ton of rust trapped in the core when I bought it. Got an excellent core from the JY and installed it the same day. It was leaking at a steady drip once I removed it. the new core is solid out of a 2000 ranger that had a nice clear coolant color. and dry insallation around it. I'm posting a pic of the dash pulled back and the core installed. you can see the orange paint on top of the heater core. I would recommend the video that the sticky suggests if your doing this.

How long did it take you? I did a 94 Blazer and it took me close to 8 hours.

so did you have to remove the steering wheel/column?

if you are using a used core, you should pressure test it.
put heater hoses on it and plug one. then use a smaller
hose around a valve stem in the other one. pump up to
about 15 lbs and submerge in water. the first two i
got leaked.

it took all day to obtain a good core from the jy and install the same day. i did unbolt the steering column but did not remove the wheel.

it took me 9 hours. with hand tools. I did unbolt the column.

Wow........ that doesn't look like fun, should that day ever come...... I feel sorry for the mechanics at our local shop, sorry b@st@rds.
