hi i have a 96 ranger w extra cab and a/c the problerm i am having is my heater core. it leaks and the p/o put stop leak in it and it worked temporarily i don't like stop leak. now i need to change the heater core and flush out the cooling system and the shop manual doesn't tell you how to change the core is it difficult on my 95 aerostar it took me about 15-20 minutes the hardest part being the damn hose clamps any illumination would be most helpful
 
Yeah they're just as simple on our trucks. Its just those hoses....frankly, you might as well replace those hoses too. Cheap insurance...

It takes a full day. You have to pull the dash.
 
I see two very different replies. You can't both be right, unless you're referring to different year models. So which is it for the OP's 96?
 
When Ford changed the Ranger and Explorer dashes in 95 they put the heater core in a "heater case". You gotta pull the dash, remove the case, and tear it down part way.

It takes all day.
 
Yup a sucky job when mine goes Iam pulling it out and going with an electric, dont have to wait for the thing to warm up,I hate frozen nads in the morning
