I have a 97 Ranger XLT 4X4 and have a problem with the Heater/AC. I am unable to adjust the heat using the rheostat/thermostat (Center control of the three control configuration). All the various heat/defrost settings work OK with the exception that heat is always maxed out and I'm unable to adjust the temperature output. Max AC works OK but if I place on normal AC setting, all I get is heat. Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?

Thanks, I will check the blend door just as soon as I find it. I have a drawing of the air flow paths in the plenum assembly and was thinking the blend door or control for this door could possibly be my problem but I'm not sure where it is or how to access this area. I will remove the glove box and see if I can figure it out.

I found detailed instructions on how to fix the blend door problem at blenddoorfix.netfirms.com. I will give the fix suggested a try. Thanks again for the quick responses. Forum help is the best.

I got this from another website. I think the company is called heatertreater.com costa about $120

I got the heater Treater today! And installed it. Wasn't really hard and i removed my old blend door and it was broken but i changed it out with the metal one And now i got HEAT!! My Heater works now!! I haven't had HEAT for YEARS in this truck!! I am sooo effin happy now!
I would highly recommend!!

Performed the blend door fix (jfrank's blend door fix). Everything is working fine at this time. The only question is how long will this fix last. I was going to order the Heater Treater Solution but thought before spending $120 for their proven solution I would try the free fix. The free fix took about an hour to perform. If this free fix doesn't hold up I will go with the Heater Treater fix.
