Headunit randomly shuts down. Moving on to a Pioneer Premier DEH-P390MP.

This one shuts down completely. I took it out and it worked fine for a while, but then it started to happen again just less frequent.

hey i might be interested in that, let me know what happens, thanks

Hasn't happened for a while, one thing I forgot but finally remembered today was that this winter I felt some warm air coming from the stereo area. Maybe a hole in the vent?

My guess is when I have the heat on it heats the stereo, causing it to over heat. Looks like I'll need to figure that out before next winter, not that I like having my radio on in the winter anyway. I like to hear my tires on the snow.

Thanks.

Update: It's not overheating. I was blowing cold air yesterday and it shut down. Something internal possibly? Using too much power? My wiring seems to all check out, so I don't thing it's that..

if your voltage to your head unit gets too low it will reset over and over, mine did that just before the alternator died

I think you should find the problem with your truck before getting another HU. :icon_confused:

But would it stay off for a random amount of time? I left my lights on the other day and almost couldn't get the truck started, the radio worked just fine.
