I am wondering what to do about my buddies ranger. His passenger side headlight is very dim and the drivers side is normal. this is with the driving lights on. any ideas? we cleaned the connections. Where does it ground off?

what year is it, if its old sealed beams and they are non hallogen then they will go dim after a long time before they fail, if its a capsule bulb you might be looking elsewhere

Good idea to check the ground for that dim side. The passenger side light is grounded on the back side of the radiator core support, next to the battery. A small cable from the battery's negative post should be grounded there too. Also look carefully for corrosion in those wires.

RobbieD is probably right... a simple light sanding/grinding of the rusted area and some kind of protectant afterwards (paint) will keep it working great for a long time.

there are also headlight upgrades for our first gens where we can put halogen lights in our trucks... check out www.lmctruck.com to see them. it's not cheap but it's brighter and with the separate wiring harness you'll be looking at a safer ride.
