Lol, I thought of that the other day... how every time the question of headers comes up how we can argue for ever and there never is a "winner", agreement, or conclusive answer... then a couple weeks later we do it all over again. Much the same way that politics and religion are discussed on forums. The next poster may be for a 351C :shok:

This is why I suggested to the Mods that a "sticky" be started for headers :icon_thumby: :stirthepot: (and we still don't have one) :icon_confused ::dunno:

We need to commission someone to make a 1 3/4" primary, 3" collector long tube header that is modular, will fit '97 and earlier 2wd and 4wd, as well as '98+ torsion and coil spring trucks.
Must be available at a cost of $99. (coated and shipped, of course!)

Figured you would want them installed for that price too. :D

Maybe we can volunteer gwaii to design something that will work in 83-97,98+ coil/torsion, both "common" and "P" style spark plug angles, and also work with 164 tooth bell. :D One size fits all..

headers is a good one but i always consider these to be the top 3:
1) motor oil
2) k&n air filters
3) religion

Make them out of flextube then one size would fit all:icon_thumby::icon_rofl:

get the heddman headers. get a starter off a 92 f-150. it adds more clearance cuz the starter is gear reduction with the solenoid on the starter. i did it and didnt have to beat the **** out of my headers to make the old style starter work

I didn't and don't recall anyone here having to beat the header to clear a big starter for the pass/side Hedman 89500. Never was the issue with me. The dump into the axle underneath that was the sticking point.

88400's come nowhere close to touching the starter at all either. :dunno:

maybe it was an issue with mine. idunno im running a 85 motor and a 92 mazda 5spd. i couldnt make the old style starter fit. the 89500 was right up against the contact for the power cable.

Mine did the same with the old style starter. Point of the thread was that there is no happy, magical, one header fits all. I personally have no problems with the Headmans. Have ran them for almost 10 years, other people would shoot you if you tried to give them a set. Run what works for ya and offer your advice to those looking. Its what makes your rig YOURS.:icon_thumby:
