Header bolts

I have a 93 extended cab Ranger. I am replacing the auto transmission. I have found out the header pipe has to be removed to gain clearance for it to be removed. In the past I have had problems removing the bolts connecting the header to the exhaust manifolds to the extent of twisting them off to also twisting the exhaust manifold bolts to the head. Then removing the head to extract the broken bolts.
Any ideas getting the bolt out?

I can't remember the layout of the collector, but can you pull a fender liner and cut the bolt with a sawzall?

Might be easier to cut the crossover pipe and get an exhaust shop to weld it back on after.

Yep cut it. I cut mine on my ranger and bought a sleeve at autozone. Fit perfect and didn't if have to clamp it. I did sand and clean the inside and outside of both pipes.

If you just cut the bolts they still need to be removed.

I cut the cat near the header pipe then cut both sides below the OX sensor. Transmission in. I cut two collars and welded onto crossover pipe. Replaced bolts in cat and welded it back together. I will bolt up hanger for the cat and bolt it to the crossover pipe. After it is lined up I will weld up the collars the best I can and hope it does not leak to bad. Maybe put band over weld.

I think if I did this job again I would pull engine and tranny together or call the junk dealer.
