hi guys i just got a 96 b2300 with a missing head. the local U-yank-it has a 94 ranger with a head on it still($60). when i look up the part at rebuilder sites it says there was a change of some sort between 95-96. i would love to use the $60 head if possible. either way I'm excited to get to work on it. i feel pretty good about the $300price tag. here's a pick. i don't even have it home yet. :D

Some of the front accessory bolt holes are different. I would stick with '95-'98 heads.

1994, and earlier heads uses different intake manifolds + the accessory holes are different as noted above.

well dang! i guess i'll be looking for a 95-? thanks for your help guys.

95 -01 2.3 or 2.5

If you want a stock cam with more lift use a 1989-1994 Ranger roller cam in the 1995, and later 2.3 - 2.5. The 1995, and later roller followers have a higher ratio which results in more lift with the early roller cam. This will give you a valve lift of 0.443".

16 valve after 02 and newer

Thanks for clearing that up, 4b316.
