I re-gasketed my motor along with installing new head bolts and when I tried to start it, it started spraying antifreeze out of the head gaskets. :flipoff: So long story short I forgot to get off some gasket material from the block. So i took it all apart removed the gaskets and now putting it back together I'm wondering do I need to buy new head bolts? I never turned over the motor so they are still brand new. A little help please.

Depends on who you ask!

Torque to yeild head bolts are mostly tightned only one time and then they are streached and shouldn't be reused.. What happens is the length of the bolt between the threaded area and the head is supposed to streach like a rubber band when the proper torque is applied.
Retorqueing them again MIGHT cause the bolt to fail..
However I reuse head bolts all the time. Only if the bolts are years and years old do I even consider new bolts.
In your case I'd for sure reinstall them. It really was a silly move to not have the head and the block entirely clean when you put it together!

Heads where done just forgot the block. 16 hours and a 12 pack not a good combo to redo a motor with. :icon_cheers:
Thanks for the info. I've had a ton of people till me that I could reuse them since they are still new. Didn't want to buy everything all over again.:icon_rofl:
