Have you been impressed with your RBV today?

I was impressed today at how many times my ranger has made me look like an idiot and i still wouldn't sell it for the world. Actually, I would. But to explain, my 88 has 2 tanks. Im out for coffee with a freind, we go in, get coffee, come out, wont start. I knew i was low on gas so I assume Im out. dad comes, and we jerry can 15 bucks in. Still doesn't start. Now im not pleased. I notice in the hurry we were in, we dumped the friggin gas in the front tank and the switch is stuck on the back! AHHHH!!! :bawling:So we jerry can another 15 in the back and by then im kicken myself in the pants for our goof up. W/e 15 for messed up gas or 170 for the switch to the tanks. After a solid 10 minutes of useless pump cycling and cranking, Im rank :icon_confused:. So we tow it home with puzzled faces and all. My dad figures Its a ignition module, as it acts like thats the problem:icon_idea: ( i dont feel like describing it) has anyone experienced a similair problem? Just a random no go? must be time for a little:icon_welder:(fixin) :Dand thats always fun :icon_thumby:

Impressed that I can't find parts at a junk for it. A lot of other vehicles, but hardly no Rangers. Thats good engineering. And the fact that it has never let me down.

really? my local yards are full of 'em. I love my ranger and all but last time i was there there were 10+ rangers easy and i saw notta one yota truck(although the whole buyback thing could be the culprit) Just all of the rangers i found were 2wd drive and didnt have those dang foglights ive been wanting, or were too new and were the wrong style.

anyways, my rangers run strong from the day ive gotten it, 9 months ago. I am quite suprised at how easily it cruises down the highway at 85mph, and how its starts everytime, even in -10deg weather

Last week, I sunk my ranger at about 9pm in a boggy, grassy mud, stock ride height. I had to leave it overnight, when i cam back the next day, the water had gotten deeper, because of run off from the nearby mountain, The truck was stuck good, both diffs on the ground, many tugs from a silverado pulled the front up, but still had a long way to go through the bog, through a deeper mud hole, up a muddy hill, through another mud hole, to get to the rode, at the last tug from the silverado, the back came out and i gunned it, the tow rope loosened and the ranger came through the mud hole, up the hill, and through the second mud hole on its own, tow strapped wrapped around the wheel, but i got lucky, no damage. Point is, dont underestimate these little trucks. My badass stock ranger.

+1 theres like 4 at the wrecker now. just none with grills. darn. mine does 85 no prob and starts in -40 NOT plugged in. probably not good, but definitly impressive.

I'm quite impressed with my Ranger. It's a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 2WD, 2.3L 4 cyl., with a 5-speed manual tranny. When I bought my truck, it had over 227k miles on the odometer. I've had this truck for a couple of months now, drove it up and down hills (anyone who lives in the eastern part of KY knows what I'm talking about), back and forth to work/home/wal-mart/parent's house/etc., swirving around coal trucks/cars/SUVs/people in them "Bowties" (a lot of people around where I live own a Chevy vehicle), and the only two things that I had to do to it since I bought it was to change the oil and put a fresh set of tires on it. Of course there are some things that I would like to do to it, and there are some future maintainance issues that I'll need to take care of, but she still runs like a top despite her age.

:icon_pepsi: So here's to my Ranger.

I may be alone here but I am not impressed at all with the Ranger, especially the 1st gen. I have had so many problems with both of mine that it's not even funny. It's sad too because the one that breaks down the most (the '88) only has 93k on it. It really seems like every time I replace a part, a week later something else is worn out.

It could just be that it's a 20 year old truck. I don't know. It has been taken care of really well. I am burnt out after fighting it for the last three years...I'm actively looking for another vehicle and it won't be another Ranger. I am probably going to go with a fullsize Chevy pickup or a Crown Vic, and my other Ranger is going to have very few Ranger parts left so it doesn't count. I guess we will see what happens with this B2 I am getting...probably going to end up as another toy.

Usually not too impressed with mine, but I love the days that I am. Changed the plugs today...runs better, less engine noise...I'm pretty sure the old ones I pulled were stock from my 97 cause they were made in Germany, are the motors not imported from Germany? Anyways...weathers better now, the ranger runs nice

I'm impressed with my Ranger...starts first crank every time now...

But I did take out the plugs that I had in it and put back the bosch +4 set...it smoothed out the idle quite a bit so I suspect one of the plugs was cracked or not gapped properly...

Ive had days I cant even start to describe how torqued i was at my truck for being a pos, but it gets me to school and work and sometimes even back home. The thing I love about rangers is even though some people think they are ugly i love the look of a jacked up or lowered ranger, and there's always something to upgrade. plus, upgrades are usually affodable. lift kit for a ranger? maybe 1000 bucks. new 1/2 ton? try 4! or more! plus install, and tires... You end up needing a huge loan just so you can get around! Plus its light so making it faster is easier than bigger, newer trucks. and there's always some at the scrapyard, so parts are easy to find. I may buy a new truck someday but I'm never lettin this baby go (it's been in the family since it was new)

It should have Motorcraft plugs from the factory.

im not impressed, i hate my truck, even though its my own fault, i twisted off a bolt in the cyl head..

My constant abuse is finally catching up with me, starting with my clutch having some rediculous slipping on the freeway today. Then i was stranded at princess auto for about and hour cause my darn truck just wouldn't start. still dont know why. after a long wait my dad showed up and just outta curiousity I gave it a whirl and vroom! started right up. Really startin to be old news.

So new fuel filter and distributer will hopefully take care of that problem.

Im impressed every time the POS starts...... Lol, jk, im impressed every time I take it out wheelin and doesnt brake anything:)

mine still starts easy and i havent had any trouble with it(exept radio harness or plug are in back of the stocker didnt fire the drivers front speaker) and i got new parts for the interior to get and a new panel for the xcab part

im extremely impressed with my little 99 3.0 flex fuel, it took me down a quarter mile strip in 18 seconds flat, the motor knocks, and taps, the syncro's in the trans are going bad, the clutch is not really existent, Ive been driving it with a metal clutch for something like 5 or 6 months now, it just keeps on truckin, cant wait to see how it'll do off road though, but im gonna get new wheels and tires, and a new clutch first
