Have you been impressed with your RBV today?

im extreamly impressed with my little 99 3.0 flex fuel, it tooke me down a wuarter mile strip in 18 seconds flat, the motor knocks, and taps, the syncro's in the trans are going bad, the clutch is not really exsistent, ive been drivin it with a metal clutch for somethin like 5 or 6 months now, it just keeps on truckin, cant wait to see how itll do off road though, but im gonna get new wheels and tires, and a new clutch first
My friend the chevy fan was bewildered my truck span past 6000 RPM's without blowing up or overheating. kinda shocked me too...

Nope disapointed though, I was looking at the busted manifold and its starting to sink in how much of a pain thats going to be to change...

im impressed that in stock form not alot of other viechles can keep up with it off road except maybe a toyota

That's a pretty impressive photo sequence...worth framing!

took this past winter, i think late feb/early march. trailer is 3/4 loaded with green oak, rear axle is against the bumpstops, enogh weight was transfered off the front axle that under hard braking the front wheels would lock and slide. i wonder if i punched the gas in low range if i could have lifted the front tires off the ground. didnt damage a thing, only moved the load across town, wouldnt have wanted to go any further than what i did.

I may be alone here but I am not impressed at all with the Ranger, especially the 1st gen. I have had so many problems with both of mine that it's not even funny. It's sad too because the one that breaks down the most (the '88) only has 93k on it. It really seems like every time I replace a part, a week later something else is worn out.

I guess the reason may of our older trucks with high miles run so good is because they have alot more miles on them and the parts were replaced many miles ago. Your truck not having so many miles on it might mean the parts haven't been replaced yet. Some people shop for vehicles that have around 120k on them so all the maintenance parts (ball joints, starter, etc.) have been replaced and the problems are taken care of. :dunno:

before i took it apart to look things over my exploder was running with a blown upper intake, lower intake, head gaskets blown, cracked block, and a fluid eating power steering pump. i could drive it back and forth to school for almost a month. i had no other car so i had no choice, espically after it spit the lower intake and killed the block. i could wrap it to 4500 RPM all day and i wouldnt even get a knock or CEL

It has been impressing me lately with the oil puddles it has been leaving, I can stand by the truck and count the drips when it is warmed up now.

It has had a seep since I got it, between the oil pan gasket and rear seal it has always piddled if I leave it sit, but this is pretty bad. It is parked until I get a chance to make sure it isn't something stupid like the oil pressure sender or something simple... more than that and it is decommissioned until I start the V-8 swap. I don't want to lock it up and have to push it in and out of the shed, and the puddles it has been leaving are rather embarrising.

Sure glad I spent all my free time last winter putting new valve seals, valve cover gaskets, a rebuilt water pump/thermostat and new hoses/belts in it last fall...:annoyed:

I can't complain too much though, it has been on borrowed time for a very long time. I find the fact that it has lasted as long as it has VERY impressive.

i like my ranger.......it was taken care of before i bought it.....the guy got anything broken fixed even when it was called "totaled" by his insurance. even have all the reciepts

but then you run the risk of getting a vehicle that needs EVERYTHING changed. if the beglected it

Bingo, that is my truck. Plus it is hard to fault a 20+ year old truck for acting up once in awhile.

Every single day!!!!! :icon_thumby:

I have owned my 84 B2 for 15 yrs, it was wheeled extremely hard for about 12 of those! Still have the stock 2.8 with 203k & it's still running & wheelin' today...it's been under water & revved past the max all it's life.

She has balanced on 2 wheels, been launched into the air numerous times, been buried to the bumpers, & she has ran with & impressed the "big boys" almost her entire life & will continue doing so.

All stock drivetrain....only destroyed 1 trans & 1 rear axle shaft in 15 yrs!!!

To those who say..."you didn't wheel her hard enough"... you don't know me very well!! Myself, & everyone who has known me for all these yrs, can't believe she is still going. :icon_confused:

:headbang: B2 :headbang:

mine always impresses me it keeps up with my buddys toyota offroad and blows his doors off on the pavement:headbang:
