i have an 88 2.9 ranger that has a cracked head on the pass side, went to the junk yard and same thing, the passenger side head was cracked, is this the side that cracks on these 2.9? i could rip in to 10-20 trucks befor i find one thats good. lol

Eh its not that that's the side that cracks, it the year 2.9, 86-88 had poor oiling problems on the top end, causing them to get hot and crack...I havent cracked mine yet...but on my 2.9(86 ranger) one lifter ticks like a sewing machine till its warmed up...takes awhile though

Mine is cracked(?) on the drive side. My engine ticks and knocks and-well?
Ford needs a bailout and you wonder why?
You **** the consumer for decades with SHIT products and eventually even the dumbest consumer will stop buying.

Get your act together and maybe people will buy another?
I'm not partial to any vehicles except ones that work.

The heads are interchangable, left to right Just FWIW

Question regarding head replacement. The replacement heads need to be 89 or 90 heads with the "89TM" designation, as per the tech section. But for aftermarket heads I am aware the World heads are top-notch (yes?), but less expensive are these heads by King.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience or knowledge of these?
Thanks.

the crack is right by the spark plug hole goes up over were the gasget goes and rund through the valve springs ,oh ya you can see it.

i know the 89 -92 heads are the better ones. i found a 90 BII at the yard but the oil fill cap had snot on it so i moved on to the next rig. i wasnt sure if it was condisaytion or what.

Best thing to do is to pull it and get it checked.Magnafluxed i belive is the proper term. Condensation is normal, especially with short rides.

If you are not worried about extra work? Get a set of the world products heads "BARE". If the valves/springs and such are in good shape? With a little prep work, they can be transferred over. (got mine for about 160 for the pair shipped. Took a while to prep the old parts to the new heads, but it was money well spent to save the cost of the "complete" ones. They might still have the overstock problem with the bare heads--that's why the price is so low)
