Has anyone hunted down and killed the door/lights/seatbelt buzzer on a late model?

The sound of the factory buzzer is like chinese water torture. Has anyone located and killed this annoying thing?
I looked under the dash and even with it buzzing it's hard to tell where it's coming from.

AH! It's unstoppable!
Maybe I can crack open the GEM and disable the speaker only.
BTW, What's GEM stand for?

in my 93 it was under the dash. i know yours in 14 years newer and alot diffrent but it was straight down from my radio under the dash, i simply unplugged it and tosssed in under me bed lol, you could try and find the fuse for it? assuming it dont affect anything critical.

okay i opened the dash be hind the radio and there is a black box on the left hand side. open it up but just make sure that the battery is disconnected and pull the black box out. and open it there is a little speaker on the board its black and about the size of a quarter un Solder it and no more ding sorry if this screw anything up it worked for me took 5 mins was praying hole time.

YES! There is hope.
Were there speaker holes or does the sound just resonate through the box?

lucky me mine has it under the dash :D
but i know where its on newer models in case someone wants me to take it out, im gonna charge big time for that :D

What I would like to do is add a switch to the wire for the door so I could turn it off/on when I listen to music with the door open.

Anyone know which wire I need to splice into?
