are they really available? any wait time?

I never had a Mazda. So no idea.

I have access to the Mazda information, so on Monday, I'll check nationwide stock on Mazda torsion bars ZZP2-34-021 (left) and ZZP2-34-011 (right) and make sure they're good for a 2000 model (Mazda). Those part numbers came up in another recent thread for a 1998 Ranger. Ford has discontinued its part number F67Z-5B326-FA for the right side.

Quick answer:

The Mazda part numbers for code 1 are the same for 2000 as for 1998. The part numbers above are confirmed to be code 1 (heaviest).

Nationwide Mazda has 2 of the right bar (-011 number) and 3 of the left (driver's side, -021 number) bar left in its warehouses. The 2 right bars, and 2 of the 3 left bars, are in a warehouse in Chicago. These parts are on "no longer available" status, so once they're gone, that's it. If you need them, see your friendly local Mazda dealer now.

I checked the code F (next heaviest) and code B (lightest) bars. Mazda no longer has stock of either side for either code, so I won't bother to put in the part numbers. All of these are discontinued.

Seems as though someone in the aftermarket ought to be able to step in and make new ones for these Rangers.

Is there a reason why you're looking for Mazda(rebadged Ford) torsion bars? We used to sell Ranger and Explorer parts to the local Mazda dealer- and they bought them because they could buy them from us at a markup and still pay less than getting them direct from Mazda. We also used to buy transfer case fluid for some awd cars from the Volvo dealer for $11/qt instead of paying Ford $42 for the same stuff.

Ford is running out of their stock, I couldn't get both sides. Mazda isn't far behind.

Ford has no more of the right-side torsion bars. Mazda is the only source and has only 2 left.

I sent James Duff Inc. a query asking about whether that company would consider making new ones for the Ranger, maybe with the heavier Explorer diameter. Will let you know the response.

Go figure, the one time in my life I am late for something. I've been to busy working and repairing my other vehicles to focus on my Ranger.

I'm going to try my luck at finding these. I can't for the life of me figure why Ford would only discontinue the passenger side #1 bar.

ekrampitzjr- Any word from James Duff?

James Duff never responded to my question.

There has to be someone in the aftermarket making these. You'd think.

09FX4, see if your Mazda dealer can check dealer stock nationwide using the right-side part number. Seems to me that's how someone here got one. I can't check dealers' stock, only Mazda's warehouses.

I am going to do that first thing this morning. Will report back this evening.

I bought a set in February from Mazda-parts.com they will want a Mazda VIN# to confirm correct part.
I had to Email and tell them it was for a different project and promise I wouldn't return them.
ZZP2-34-011 and ZZP2-34-021

I also wanted a set of lighter bars, they couldn't get them.

Sadly they are nowhere to be found. I think enough people got the same idea.

Here's hoping the aftermarket will catch up and make a replacement. I would imagine with the MILLIONS of Rangers / Mazda B series sold over the years someone will step in.
