Has any one successfully used 6x9s on 2001-up?

I'd like to install 6x9 speakers in the doors and back wall of my 2007 regular cab.
The back wall is no problem but the doors may be tricky with the window mechanism.
I thought about getting a pair of of those 6x9 boxes and cutting off the front, leaving just enough depth to use them for a mounting plate/spacer to keep the magnet out of the window mechanism.
The only thing stopping me is it might not come out looking like a clean installation.
Has anyone mounted 6x9's IN the doors behind the original 5x7 speaker opening in the door panel?

I can't figure out the wiring conversion...... I hate to hack up my nice connector just to put in aftermarket speakers (which I allready have!!!!)
I have 5x7's that fit the hole pattern...........

The OE speaker holes in the front doors clear the window track, so as long as your speakers magnet is not wider then 6" you'll be fine, but if your bent on 6x9s in the front doors cut toward the front of the door and you should be fine.

Then you need these:

I just cut my connectors off and saved them. I can easily re-attach them with some butt connectors. But I used that picture to figure out which wire is positive and which is negative.

Thank you

Thanks

I just want good bass response without giving up the space behind the seat.
I like to keep a tool kit, jumper cables, mini air compressor, trailer ball & bar, and ratchet straps back there as well as the factory jack.

I'm not looking for a competition setup, just something that sounds good when I crank it up.

yes you can put 6x9s all around i did it. but you have to mod the holes

Thanks man, I hate hacking up the factory wiring......... you can only do that so many times before you have an electrical taped nub sticking throught he speaker hole.
I ordered them...... can't wait to finally have premium sound!!!!!!!!!

What's your budget? I've seen some 6x8s that will blow 6x9s out of the water.

I'd like to keep it under $200 for all four speakers and about 50 watts RMS each running off a high power head unit or small 4 channel amp.
It's not going to be a competition setup but I'd like the most bang for the buck.
I'm looking for speakers that will sound full and produce good bass without running a separate sub.

should be right around what you want to spend with shipping, I have never heard a bad thing about them, and the spec out great hitting down to 30Hz, and that should hold you till you decide on the sub or not. If it makes a difference i'll probably do a set of them in my dad's truck when the time comes.

Can someone tell me if the cone for the speakers that fit both 6x8 and 5x7 are smaller than the speakers for 6x8 only?
I'm thinking the combo style may just be a 5x7 with a wider lip on the basket.
