Heres what I got. My 85 bronco 2 will start fine when it is cold (it does require me to pump the gas a couple of times). It will run and idle fine until it fully warms up. After it warms up it will stall when I come to a complete stop and release the gas to let it idle. Then when I go to start it I have to hold down the gas to get it to start and even with the gas held down it starts really rough. It will idle rough like it is not getting much fuel. I tried earlier today flooring the gas while it was acting up and about after a minute it starting running right again. I have replaced the distributor, ignition control module, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs, wires, ecu, choke pull-off and battery. I am just curious if anyone has any idea as to where I should start from. I am thinking the fuel system but I am not sure. Any advise is appreciated.

Did the problem start after you changed one of those things or did you do all of that at once?

Is the vacuum to the pull off still good?
Take off the intake filter and start the engine. Make sure it's opening enough. I had a problem with this a while back when my idle was too low.

I replaced the part over about a month. I cant really say when the problem started because I bought the bronco recently and when I got it it already had alot of problems with it (the previous owner wrapped the spark plug wires with electrical tape because they had cuts showing the wire). The pull off seem to be good and the choke is opening up like it should. It is running alot better then when I bought it but now I am running out of ideas to make it run right. I have noticed that the purge solenoid is not opening up at all so I thinking of replacing it. thanks for the response. if you got any other ideas let me know.

Mine was the sameway, turned out to be my choke, it closed on me and when I went to start it, it would flood. Fixed that with a manual choke conversion and still got to keep my high idle, found that out a few days ago by accident. It could be vapor lock getting you.

Are you talking the EGR purge solenoid the vacuum line that goes from there to the carb the yellow one needs to vent to air just disconnect it for now and see if that works. It is east to get that confused it allows the egr to close if you have it hooked up to vacuum the egr is all the way open it is supposed to pull filtered air from the air horn so it dont clog. that is the big 45 degree nipple on the bottom of the air horn on the back of the carb.

I seem to have fixed it. I removed the purge solenoid and tested it with a 9v battery and it was working. It turns out that the ground was not grounded for it so i reran the ground and it is working. Also the Idle Air control valve was not touching the throttle at all so I adjusted it and now the bronco 2 seem to be running a lot better. Thanks for the help everyone.
