Hard starting in the cold 4.0l v6

I have a 92 ford ranger xlt 4x4 with a manual 5 speed and it runs but when the engine gets cold it doesn't start on gas so I spray carb clean in the throttle body then it runs my guess is a leaky injector but idk any help is



I have changed the fuel filter and Spark plugs and spark plug wires I really need help

Any help is much appreciated

How many miles on your '92?
What's the overall level of maintenance so far?
Vacuum leaks all over the place?
PCV system intact?
Do a basic compression check.

Carb cleaner starting when cold is indicative of too little fuel (clogged injector maybe) not too much (leaky injector). Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. I see you're in Canada so when say cold, how cold we talking. My cold in TN is probably VERY different. Anything under freezing here is considered cold.

235 thousand kilometers so 180 thousand miles

There are couple vacum leaks I put electric tape over them it works okish I do have to fix that.

Like I said in the first part of this thread don't mean to be rude I changed the fuel filter engine oil Spark plugs and spark plug wires and transmission oil the Mas air flow is really clean it's been changed by the owner before I know the guy he's a family friend
It blows some blue smoke meaning it's running to rich sometimes. One more thing this thing burns spark plugs like a mother father.

Cold means when the engine gets cold I've had it for a couple months so I don't know the guy that gave it to me said his son started it last year in 30 deegre weather so?

How's the fuel pressure? Running and also at rest, especially after sitting a few hours. Could be a leaky check valve allowing fuel pressure to bleed back to the tank. Or bad fuel pressure regulator.

Try this for a cold start. Turn the key to run for a few seconds then off. Do that 2 or 3 times, then try to start it.

Done that I should maybe try a fuel pressure gauge. And were is this check valve everyone is talking about cuse Idk

So any tips cuse I want to know cuse like I ant old enough to drive it on the road but I know a lot so I would like to use this as my farm truck and a bottle of carb clean is pricey

Fuel pressure port is on the fuel rail.

Should be about 40psi.

A proper sized screw in a piece of vacuum hose will be better then black tape.
