well lately every once in a while when i go to start my truck, it will turn over 10 or 12 times before it fires, but most of the time it starts up fine, and it always runs just fine after its started. anybody know what i should do about this? its a SOHC

I have a 05 and its done this a few times to, could never understand why?

try turning the key on for about 10 seconds before you start it maybe the fuel pressure is leaking down and needs to come up to pressure. injectors or regulator

Turn the key forward but dont start it, the fuel pump runs for a second to prime the lines. Do this 2 or 3 times then start it. If that fixes it, you need a new fuel pressure regulator. Also some engines with crankshaft position sensors just need to spin a little bit to get everything going for a start

Not necessarily the FPR, but more likely a small o-ring on the pump that prevents pressure from leaking down. There are better ways to diagnose a FPR.
