hard start below freezing

so I have a 99 4.0 and I just moved to a ski town, its been in cold weather before but never had this problem. yesterday and today in the morning both times the temp was around 10-20 degrees F. the truck will just crank, tried cranking it for about 15-30 seconds and nothing, then I held the gas pedal on the floor and it came sputtering to life. within a second it was running fine. I have heard of gas lines freezing. anything else causing it to be hard to start?

And were you in an area with cold weather before? Have you put fuel from the new ski town in your truck yet? In colder climates, refineries put additives in the fuel, and I am wondering if that may be what you are experiencing (improper fuel).

I moved from the city where it might get to freezing once in a while to a mountain that gets feet and feet of snow and on cold digits will get down to 0 at night. I filled up with gas after the first day of hard starting. we will see how it does tomorrow.

Prime the fuel system before cranking the starter:

Turn key to Run
wait 3 sec while fuel pump runs
turn key to off
repeat, repeat,
crank the starter.
