I've got a 96 Ranger with the 2.3 gas engine and 5 spd. I'm assuming it has the Mazda tranny but I couldn't swear to it because I bought it used. My problem is it seems that at times 2nd gear is difficult to shift into. Could this be low fluid in my slave cylinder or possibly some other problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a M5OD I swapped into my B2.

It was rebuilt prior to my installing it by someone who knows their stuff.

Occasionally mine will not want to go into 2nd either. It is sporatic. I notice mine mostly when I've been driving it a lot and shifting more than normal. I just jam it in and keep on rolling. The next shift all is fine.

I think it's worn blocking rings, but as long as it still works I plan on driving it that way.
