help!, i have a 5speed 2.3 ranger for a short time it has been leaking fluid, it did run dry once and i bleed it but it was not the same. altho i have not seen it drip out i need to add some to the resivor from time to time, this morning when i push the cluch down it was hard and did not go to the floor i can put it in gear but it wont catch i bleed the system through the bleeder and the pedal is fine for about 15-20 times than back to hard i am not that famillar with tranny and just like to know whitch way to start , air?-slave cyl?-master ? does anyone know what might be causing this? thanks, bob

Well, you shouldn't ever have to add fluid to that. If you do, you're losing it somewhere. The clutch system isn't very complicated, and if you've never changed your slave, it might not be a bad time. Dorman even makes a kit that will change out all of your hydraulic clutch components for only about 170 bucks. That's Dorman part number CC649033. While you're in there you'll probably wanna take at look at the clutch too.

thanks, yea when i saw the fluid droping i knw it want good, just had aamco replace all clutch parts 2 yrs 75,000 ago, last clutch laster 327,000 mi so i know i am not rough on it (or am i)

pull the rubber inspection cover from the trans and have a look inside. if there's fluid in there it's the slave. and 9 times out of 10 the slave is the failed component on these trucks.

yea i was afraid of that, the thing that puzzled me is i get 30 pumps with the clutch and it feels good than it goes hard, but if i bleed it at the bleeder it works fine for another 30 ...exactally 30 thats why i was thinkin air, there is a reason it is loosin fluid tho huh
