This is how I made a shifter knob to fit perfectly to my hand.

What you will need;
-A shifter knob
-Sand paper (40, 80, 120, 400 Grits)
-Long strand fibreglass filler
-Putty (two part is best, but pink putty will do)
-Can of primer
-Paint (colour of your choice)
-RTV silicone (or other adhesive)

1. Remove shifter knob from shifter (it is glued and pressed on so this is a bit of a pain).
2. carefully cut rubber coating off to expose plastic inner.
3. Sand plastic inner well with 40 Grit sand paper.
4. Mix up an ample amount of long stand fibreglass filler as per instructions on can and spred onto plastic inner.
5. Firmly grasp shifter knob the way you would while shifting with right hand (if you don't want to get your hands dirty wear a tight fitting pair of latex or rubber gloves) smoothing out what ever oozes out with your left.
6. Hold it untill the filler starts to harden.
7. Sand with 80 Grit sand paper to smooth out the lines.
8. Putty to make smooth.
9. Sand with 120 grit sandpaper to remove any imperfections (repeat step 8 if neccesery).
10. Apply 2-3 coats of primer and allow to dry.
11. Sand with 400 grit sandpaper untill smooth.
12. Paint and allow to dry
13. Apply RTV silicone to end of shifter and slip on knob, line up knob to be comfortable while shifting through all the gears and clean off access silicone.

Sorry I didn't think far enough ahead to take pics of the process, but this is what my finished product looks like.

I got the angle a little bit off, but I'm going to correct that with a "Dash Slammer" (for those not formiluar with Rat-Rod turms, that's a shifter that is as high as the dash)

looks so weird yet cool!

I know I get that alot, and it feels so comfortable in your hand, atleast it makes for a good pick-up line when women say that, so I can tell them to go ahead and feel my knob (too bad I'm married)
