A few weeks ago my car spun a bearing, had a pretty nasty rod knock when I revved it up. I've had a power loss issue ever since I did my lower intake gaskets in September. I'm thinking one of my injectors was failing/dirty and was going lean, thus causing the bearing to spin after so long. My car has 143k miles, my new engine is out of a '04 Impala SS with only ~80k.
I really wish I could have afforded to do internal mods while the engine was out, but the engine itself sucked up enough money!
Anyway, on with the pics..
old engine..
New engine after getting it stripped to regasket it
old engine out
putting the new engine back together with new gaskets and seals, the intake gaskets are straight from GM, they're metal instead of plastic, which came in them from the factory, and failed quite often.
This is one of the fel-pro gaskets I put in in September, its split already, and not even near a bolt, which I torqued properly.
The new engine all back together, had to reuse my supercharger, and I reused my lower intake because I had it jetwashed back in September.
hooking up the transmission. While I had it apart I installed a "false knock elimination kit", which is just 3 pieces of dynomat, 2 strips that I wrapped around each knock sensor, and one large piece that goes on the transmission case between the engine and transmission. It keeps the knock sensors from getting false readings and cutting back timing, I didn't get any pics of it though.
Just after getting the engine set down in it
All done. I have to move some wiring around, my friend hooked all the wiring back up and it isn't in the right spot, no big deal, just have to remove the battery and coil packs to do it, blah.
