And second 2 days later... In the company truck... Our gas/water department has sewer lift pumps that are often down an "unimproved road", and we have to drive down there to read the electric meter, hence our trucks are all 4wd (so I thought)... Now, I normally drive the Ranger (we have 3 Chevy 1500's, a Ranger, an Escape and a Sonoma), and I've never had a problem (just flip the switch and and press the gas, right?)... Well, I go down this trail and I'm doing just fine, come to a steeper section (granted this is all mostly gravel), I assume I can do it, I've gone through worse before with no trouble... Drive past it read the meter, start driving back up... All's good till I get to the steeper section so I flip that little switch to the 4x4 High side (should get me by easily)... Nope! I start spinning... Hmmm, kinda strange... So I stop put it in 4Lo... Back up a bit to get some more speed and I still can't get past this spot... Keep trying for a few minutes... Get out and assess the situation... I realize I'm not getting out alone so I call back to the office and they call one of the service guys to pull me out... He shows up and were all hooked up and he pulls me out... Strangely enough, there weren't ruts from my front tires
... What a wonderful time to find out the 4x4 on the Ranger is broke... I know the 4x4 works when I pull the lever on the Chevy's... Why can't everything be that simple?
Edit: Oh, the second stuck was a completely flat area on the side of the road that just happened to be too muddy for the truck (everyone took the good trucks and left me the Ranger again :/)
